This is the 150th
anniversary of the Colorado gold rush. Many towns around the state will have celebrations and we will put those announcements
here when we become aware of them.
August 7th, 8th, 9th
Boom
Days is always the first weekend in August. Festival events span three days of fun, food, and recreational activities for
the whole family. There are historic contests of individual mining skill, Annual Gun Show of the Leadville Rod & Gun Club,
the Motorcycle Rodeo, the popular Boom Days Parade, and our world-famous 21 mile International Pack Burro Race. There are
tons of things to see and do, including children's events and a huge variety of supporting events, such as our big street
fair, a parade, street-side entertainment, costume contests, including the "Mosey" contest, and much more!
August 8, 2009 South Park City hosts it's "Living History Days" in
Fairplay, Colorado. Volunteers will dress up and there will be exhibits. This is well worth visiting and supporting. It is
in the heart of the gold country! http://www.southparkcity.org/
